What We Do

Since 2022, we have supported dozens of athletes in the sport of rock climbing in Central Ohio.

Our Mission

Project Good is dedicated to developing highly competitive athletes within the sport of climbing through educational programming, industry best practices, outdoor stewardship, and community engagement.

What We Do

We engage with climbing facilities to bring quality competitive programming to high performing athletes and/or aspiring athletes.

Climbing is a fantastic space for youth to engage with problem-solving skills, building confidence, and developing their physical ability.

What does my child need?

We at Project Good believe that technical skills (movement, belay skills, competition mindset) can be taught, however these are not the only things we look for when recruiting high performing athletes. Below are qualities that we look for when recruiting youth to our teams.

How do I join?

Prior to joining a competitive team, you will want to consult your local gym to see if they have a partnership with Project Good. If your gym does not already have a team through Project Good you can contact blelswick.35@gmail.com to request a team at your facility.

  • Positive attitude - Training is tough and it is ok to get frustrated at times, but a good attitude can be the difference between a good practice and a great practice.

  • Willingness to learn - We never expect youth to know everything. We love to foster their curiosity for the sport.

  • Coachability - Athletes who never try something new or apply advice given by experts rarely succeed.

  • Belay Skills (appropriate to the age) - consult Cleveland Rocks for belay lessons.

  • Equipment - Climbing shoes, harnesses, belay device, chalk/chalkbag. While these items are easily rented for practice, athletes must have their own while traveling for competitions.

What does it cost?

Competitive climbing has a few recurring costs that are dependent upon your facility/region. Please consult your local gym for costs related to your competitive team.

Project Good offers a tiered pricing plan. Information will be shared with all parents once a contract with your local gym has been finalized.
